KORD does not itself provide finance or carry out infrastructure development.  Its activities will focus on

  1. identifying needs and potential projects;
  2. getting agreement on project priorities;
  3. managing the financing of projects; and
  4. Project management – ensuring the delivery of projects on time and to budget. 

In carrying out projects, KORD largely uses contractors (e.g. civil engineering contractors, medical service providers etc) with its role limited to channelling funds and overseeing and facilitating activities.  The overhead costs of KORD will therefore be low, thereby maximising the proportion of funds used to directly benefit the community.

The needs assessment conducted in 2006, indicates a diversity of community infrastructural needs which require substantial amount of funding if we have to create a positive impact on the livelihoods of the beneficiaries.  Fundraising therefore remains the most probable option.
